Montanans Wondering What They Could Spend Their Extra Nine Cents Per Month On

Helena MT – Governor Gianforte’s tax proposal is for the richest Montanans.  According to the non-partisan Montana Budget and Policy Center Montana’s wealthiest 1% will get an average tax cut of $1,314 annually. The top 20% would receive 79% of the proposed tax benefit. 

The average Montanan would receive $1.16 per month in their paycheck and those in Montana that make less than $40,000 per year would get less than nine cents per month.

“We are facing real economic challenges in Montana and a monthly tax cut for 99% of Montanans that is equivalent to buying a soda is not going to fix it,” said Sandi Luckey, Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party. “This is a give away to Gianforte’s rich friends, plain and simple.”
