Senator Daines and Representative Rosendale Oppose Targeted Relief for Montanans

Daines and Rosendale Put Loyalty to McConnell First,

Turning Their Backs on Montanans and Donald Trump

Helena, MT — Senator Steve Daines and Representative Matt Rosendale continue to show their loyalties lie with Mitch McConnell, not hardworking Montana families.

While Democrats continue to push for a bill that will create a national vaccination program so we can reopen our economy, fully reopen schools, and provide $1,400 relief checks to Montanans — a bipartisan proposal even advocated for by former President Donald Trump — Daines and Rosendale are denying relief for Montanans in need by opposing the latest coronavirus relief package.

In a statement today, former President Trump blasted McConnell, blaming him personally for blocking larger pandemic relief checks, which are included in the current package. And despite the relief proposal garnering strong bipartisan public support, including 59% of Republican voters, Daines and Rosendale have sided with Mitch McConnell against helping Montana families and against the relief checks advocated for by Trump

“Steve Daines and Matt Rosendale would rather have their hands in Mitch McConnell’s pockets than put money back in the hands of hardworking Montanans,” said Daniel Pereira, Montana Democratic Party Communications Director. “They’re so loyal to Mitch McConnell they’ll even turn their backs on Donald Trump.”
