MDP Executive Director Sheila Hogan: “Incumbent Congressman Ryan Zinke promises to deliver the same lies, corruption, and misrepresentation he’s come to be known for throughout his time in public office”
Helena, MT – In a new op-ed, Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party Sheila Hogan slams Congressman Ryan Zinke for his history of lies, corruption, and enriching himself while holding office.
From his laundry list of ethics investigations while serving as Interior Secretary, to putting special interest groups over hardworking Montanans— Hogan outlines how the only person who would benefit from another Zinke term is the Congressman himself.

Montanans in the western congressional district deserve a representative who follows ethical standards and someone who’s looking out for Montanans first.
Incumbent Congressman Ryan Zinke promises to deliver the same lies, corruption, and misrepresentation he’s come to be known for throughout his time in public office. Tough competition, but Zinke has been Montana’s most scandal-plagued elected Republican in recent memory.
Who can forget that during Zinke’s time as Interior Secretary, he racked up 18 federal probes, and his conduct was so dishonorable he was asked to leave Trump’s cabinet after less than two years of service?
But the corruption didn’t end there. In August 2022, investigators found that during his time as Secretary of the Interior, Zinke used his power to block Native Tribes from opening a Connecticut casino. Then he lied to investigators “with the overall intent to mislead them” and pressured them to cover it up until the election that November.
Zinke has only looked out for his best interests instead of the interests of Montanans, lining his pocket with paychecks from the oil and gas industry while Montanans suffer exorbitant rising costs.
He’s even making money by renting out multiple properties on AirBnB, tying up the housing inventory even while Montana spirals into a housing crisis.
In fact, over and over again he’s demonstrated a willingness to break the rules and sell out Montana to enrich himself.
When Zinke’s not wheeling and dealing, he’s putting himself in the middle of our most personal decisions. Zinke would let government ban abortion with no exceptions for rape, incest or to save a woman’s life - even here in Montana. We value our freedom and privacy, but Ryan Zinke keeps voting to take our freedom away.
Maybe that’s why more and more Montanans are looking for a change and we’re seeing Monica Tranel has gained ground against Zinke the closer we get to Election Day.
Let’s elect Monica Tranel, who is proud to call Montana her home and who has demonstrated an Olympian spirit. Tranel has put tens of thousands of miles on her minivan, criss-crossing the western district to actually sit down with and listen to Montana voters. She will protect public lands, reproductive freedom, and the middle class’s ability to live and thrive in Montana.
