New Jersey Millionaire Greg Gianforte Is Trying to Buy the Governor’s Mansion

Gianforte has now dropped over $1 million into his own campaign

Helena, MT – Greg Gianforte – the wealthiest member of the U.S. House – loaned his campaign for Governor another $500,000 this month, bringing his contributions to his own campaign to more than $1,000,000.

Since the beginning of the year, Gianforte has been responsible for over 67% of the total contributions to his campaign, more than $2 for every $1 contributed by other individuals. Gianforte continues to face intense scrutiny over his personal investments profiting from the COVID-19 outbreak, while using his wealth to fund his campaign.

“Montanans know that our democracy is not up for sale. Greg Gianforte’s blatant attempt to buy our Governor’s mansion reveals just how out of touch with Montana values he really is,” said MDP Executive Director Sandi Luckey. “Greg Gianforte is writing himself $500,000 checks, while working families are struggling just to make ends meet. Come November, Montanans will reject Gianforte – again.”
