Helena, MT – Wednesday afternoon, the Montana Supreme Court affirmed the Yellowstone County district court’s preliminary injunction, the latest decision in the voting rights case making its way through the Montana courts. The Montana Supreme Court’s decision upholds the preliminary injunction blocking S.B. 169, which imposed additional voter ID restrictions, and H.B. 176, which ended day voter registration, while we await a decision from the district court following the trial in August. In response to the Montana Supreme Court’s ruling, Sheila Hogan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“Yesterday’s decision is consistent with our efforts to safeguard Montanans’ fundamental right to vote. Protecting voting rights is a win for all Montanans.”
