Maryland Matt Rosendale Continues to Oppose Medicaid Expansion, Supports Tearing Health Care Away From Thousands of Montanans
Helena, MT – In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, access to quality, affordable health care has never been more important. Despite this, Maryland Matt Rosendale continues to oppose Montana’s Medicaid expansion program, which currently covers more than 80,000 Montanans across the state, has created thousands of jobs, and has proven to be a lifeline for rural hospitals and the communities they support.
As a state legislator, Rosendale infamously voted against expanding Medicaid, going so far as to accuse his colleagues of conspiring with a shadowy cabal of special interests — a claim written off as “laughable” by a Republican colleague. After the law was passed, Rosendale continued to undermine the program by calling for federal block grants, which would result in massive losses in coverage.
“Time and again, Maryland Matt has opposed expanding access to quality, affordable health care,” said MDP Executive Director Sandi Luckey. “Montanans need elected officials who will fight for them and their communities, not work to undermine health care during a public health crisis. Come November, Montanans will send Matt home to Maryland, not Congress.”
