Gianforte ‘couldn’t care less’ about the tens of thousands of Montanans affected
Helena, MT – This week, Lee Newspapers ran a profile of Democratic candidate Ryan Busse and his bid to take back the governor’s office. In the profile, Busse emphasized the importance of getting Medicaid expansion renewed in the next Legislative session and criticized Governor Greg Gianforte for booting more than 133,000 children, seniors, and Native Americans off their health insurance this past year.
When asked about it, Gianforte said his plan to boot Montanans from their health care is “working as intended.”
While Busse vows to fight for people to keep their health care, Public News Service reports today nearly 85,000 Montanans stand to lose their coverage as Medicaid’s expanded program expires next year. Governor Gianforte has yet to say he will authorize Montana’s expanded Medicaid, leaving tens of thousands with uncertainty.
“Greg Gianforte has kicked tens of thousands of Montanans off their healthcare coverage, and he couldn’t care less about them,” said Montana Democratic Party Executive Director Sheila Hogan. “Ryan Busse knows and understands that healthy Montanans means a healthy economy with robust communities, and that losing Medicaid will result in small towns losing their hospitals, clinics, and rest homes.”
