BREAKING: Is AG Knudsen a Lap Dog for Big Tech?
Facebook’s secret campaign to undermine competitors raises questions about influences in Knudsen’s investigation
Helena, MT – A shocking report from the Washington Post revealed that Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has been secretly orchestrating a campaign to turn the public against Meta competitor TikTok. The Campaign – run by right-wing consulting group Targeted Victory – coordinated op-eds from “concerned parents” to encourage their state Attorneys General to “investigate” TikTok, among other efforts. At the end of last month, the Montana Attorney General opened an investigation into TikTok, demanding the social media platform answer questions relating to their safety features.
“Are Facebook and other shadowy big tech companies wielding influence on our state’s Department of Justice?” asks Sheila Hogan, Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party. “Regulating big tech is so critical, especially as the market changes so rapidly. But Montana’s Attorney General should not be doing dirty work for Mark Zuckerberg. Montana deserves transparency– Knudsen has a lot to answer for, after spouting talking points from a shadowy political group in the pocket of Big Tech.”
