Rosendale Votes AGAINST Lowering Insulin Costs
Up to 66,000 people in Montana, or 8.1% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes and rely on insulin, which can cost some as much as $1,000 per month
Helena, MT – In a vote in the House today, Rep. Matt Rosendale voted against a bill to cap the cost of insulin for many Americans at $35 per month.
Nearly 70,000 Montanans have diagnosed diabetes and rely on insulin. Insulin can cost patients up to $1,000 a month.
During the 2021 session, Montana Democrats brought four bills that sought to lower insulin costs for Montana families, including HB 222 (Rep. Karjala – Billings) which was similar to the vote taken in the US House today. Republicans killed the bill. None of the other three bills made it out of their Republican committees.
“Right now, Rep. Rosendale owes an explanation to the 66,000 Montanans who rely on insulin,” Montana Democratic Party Executive Director Sheila Hogan says. “Rosendale’s vote today against capping insulin costs is a slap in the face to the thousands of Montana families who are being forced to choose between paying rent and paying for a drug they cannot live without.”
