Out-of-Stater Navigator: Sheehy Got His Property Taxes Lowered By “Tens of Thousands of Dollars”
Property taxes are skyrocketing for Montanans across the state – but not for multimillionaire transplant Tim Sheehy.
Sheehy used a company employee to successfully appeal his Big Sky vacation mansion’s property value and lowered it by $2 million, saving himself tens of thousands of dollars in taxes. Read more below.

Damning new reporting from the Montana Independent outlined how Sheehy saved big on his property taxes, while hardworking Montanans’ property taxes soared.
Last year, Sheehy – with the help of one of his business associates – filed a “successful appeal of the valuation of his multimillion-dollar vacation property in Big Sky, saving tens of thousands of dollars” and reducing its value by $2 million. Sheehy rents his luxury vacation property for “an average of $1,400 a night.”

Sheila Hogan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party, released the following statement on Sheehy’s property tax reduction:
“While Montana families’ property taxes are going up, Tim Sheehy got his property taxes on his Big Sky vacation mansion reduced. Most Montanans don’t have the luxury of using a company employee to lower property taxes. Time and time again, Sheehy proves how out of touch he is with our state. While Jon Tester fights for lower costs for every Montanan, Sheehy only helps himself.”

On the two year anniversary of the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, Montanans called out Sheehy for his support of a national abortion ban and laid out the stakes of this election for Montana women.
