While Rosendale Keeps Bannon Close, Bannon’s Numbers Plummet in New Poll
Helena – A new poll shows former White House strategist Steve Bannon’s popularity plummeting among Republican voters, which must have wealthy real estate developer Matt Rosendale shaking in his Under Armours right now.
According to a Morning Consult/Politico poll, Bannon is viewed unfavorably by 46 percent of self-identified Republican voters, up 17 points from a survey a month earlier.
The poll comes as Bannon has lost favor with President Trump after he made critical comments for a new book. In spite of Bannon’s banishment, Rosendale, who enthusiastically wrapped himself in Bannon’s endorsement in October, refuses to separate himself from Bannon and sticks close.
“Matt Rosendale made a political gamble with Steve Bannon, and it looks like his bet is a loser,” said Chris Meagher, spokesman for the Montana Democratic Party. “Montana voters aren’t impressed with Rosendale’s support from out-of-state special interests groups, and he’s going to pay the price at the polls.”
