Helena, MT—Thousands of Montanans gathered across the state within the last week to protest the Trump Administration and Elon Musk’s slashes and cuts to the federal government. Rally-goers also expressed anger and frustration with Montana’s all-Republican congressional delegation while they hide in Washington and refuse to hold public town halls and visit with constituents.
On Friday, over a thousand people gathered in Billings and Bozeman for public town halls and discussed recent federal layoffs and efforts to dismantle the Department of Education. Montana’s congressional delegation was invited to join but were nowhere to be found.
Protesters also:
Gathered in front of Senator Steve Daines’ office in Missoula to protest potential government cuts to Medicaid.
Protested on the streets of Fort Benton to support federal workers, teachers, postal service workers, veterans, and farmers.
Hit the streets in Billings to protest planned US Postal Service cuts.
Rallied in Great Falls to protest the dismantling of the Department of Education
Crashed Congressman Ryan Zinke’s tour of a VA clinic in Hamilton and protested outside the facility.
“Montanans are outraged by the indiscriminate federal cuts, slashes, and firings imposed by Trump and Elon Musk’s DOGE and are deeply concerned about the impacts these policies will have on the future of Montana,” said Interim Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party, Justin Ailport. “Senator Daines, Senator Sheehy, Congressman Zinke, and Congressman Downing all know cutting federal jobs and critical government services is unpopular and wrong, but they are more concerned with sucking up to President Trump than looking out for the livelihood of working Montanans and their families.”
