Once Again, A Vote Against Montana’s Interests
Helena, MT – Rosendale, one of the most hardline Republican members of the U.S. House, voted last week against expanding school mental health services, despite the fact that one in five Montana children has seriously considered suicide, while 2 in 5 are showing symptoms of depression.
It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone following along with his record. He has consistently taken NO votes on common sense, bipartisan legislation – more often than not standing in direct opposition to the rest of his party.
Voted NO on protecting consumers from price-gouging of consumer fuels by large oil and gas corporations.
Voted NO on addressing the baby formula shortage.
Voted NO on capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month.
Voted NO on cutting health care premiums, providing critical rent or remortgage support for Montanans struggling to keep up with the rising cost of housing, and cutting child care costs, through the American Rescue Plan.
Voted NO on critical funding for Montana’s colleges and universities, as they struggled to reopen post-pandemic, including $34 million for Tribal Colleges.
Refused to condemn Russia’s unprovoked acts of war against a democracy, refused to join with 426 of his colleagues in a resolution of support for Ukraine, and introduced a bill to withhold aid to Ukraine.
Voted NO on strengthening services and rural delivery of the United States Postal Service.
Voted NO on helping to address veterans’ food insecurity – which affects them at higher rates than other working-age Americans.
“Matt Rosendale is a radical, out-of-step do-nothing candidate,” says Sheila Hogan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. “All he does is blow hot air and take remarkably unpopular votes. And then, like clockwork, he comes back to Montana every two years to ask for your vote. Montanans deserve far better than Matt “No-sendale.”
