Out-of-Stater Navigator: Tim Sheehy’s “Rocky,” “Scandal-Plagued” Campaign

In just the past week, Tim Sheehy has faced a slew of damaging headlines about his company’s shady practices, his offensive comments about Native Americans, and his lies about his military record – but those are just the latest in the many questions raised that Sheehy will have to answer over the next 60 days.

SHEEHY’S OFFENSIVE COMMENTS ABOUT NATIVE AMERICANS

Last Friday, Char-Koosta News broke the story that at a campaign event, Sheehy referenced a recent reservation visit as “a great way to bond with all the Indians while they’re drunk at 8:00 A.M.,” and mimicked Native voices calling him “white boy.”

NEW OP-ED FROM MONTANA FINANCIAL EXPERT SLAMS SHEEHY’S SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES

Gallatin County-based financial expert Marc Cohodes penned a new op-edhighlighting Tim Sheehy’s shady business practices and lies, following bombshell investigative reporting that Sheehy falsely certified his company, Bridger Aerospace, as a “socially and economically disadvantaged company” and spent $134 million of a $160 million bond earmarked for planes and hangars on paying off investors.

“I’ve made a living being able to spot the frauds and cheats of the business world,” Cohodes wrote. “And when Sheehy tells you he’s a successful businessman, he’s hoping you won’t have the smarts to see his experience for what it really is: Someone who let his taxpayer-funded company bleed millions while he cashed out on bonuses and a multimillion-dollar salary.”

TIM SHEEHY FAILED TO FOLLOW PENTAGON REQUIREMENTS

New reporting from The Guardian revealed that Tim Sheehy did not submit his book, Mudslingers, to the Department of Defense for proper vetting and review, which is necessary “to ensure information damaging to the national security is not inadvertently disclosed.” Sheehy, who recounts various stories about his time as a Navy SEAL in his book, “failed to follow Pentagon rules” required of all military service members wishing to publicize information about their time in service.  Reporting also noted that Sheehy’s explanation for leaving the military appears to be “a version of events that does not match his own words on the campaign trail.”

MDP STATEMENT ON TIM SHEEHY WANTING ABORTION “ALL TO END TOMORROW”

This week, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood Alexis McGill Johnson is campaigning in Montana in support of Sen. Jon Tester. In light of Tim Sheehy saying he wants abortion “all to end tomorrow,” the Montana Democratic Party’s executive director, Sheila Hogan, released the following statement:

“In Montana, we value our freedoms, and that means having the freedom to make our own health care decisions. Transplant Tim Sheehy wants the government to make these decisions for us. It is no surprise that Tim Sheehy wants abortion ‘all to end tomorrow.’ His extreme rhetoric aligns with his extreme beliefs: He wants to ban abortion nationwide and he opposes the ballot measure to protect Montanans’ reproductive freedoms.

“Tim Sheehy wants to take away our freedoms. This November, Montana women will reject him and his extreme position at the ballot box.”

WHAT MONTANANS ARE SAYING: “MONTANA DESERVES LEADERS WITH INTEGRITY, NOT DECEIT”

Recent letters to the editor and op-eds publishing in newspapers across Montana show that Tim Sheehy is under fire for lying in his ads, avoiding questions from the veteran community, and pushing policies that would be disastrous for Montana.
