Out-of-Stater Navigator: Montanans Can See Right Through Shady Sheehy
Ahead of Monday’s Senate debate, multimillionaire out-of-stater Tim Sheehy can’t hide from his lies. From Sheehy’s refusal to release his medical records for his gunshot wound to his plagiarism scandal, Sheehy owes Montanans answers about his deeply concerning record.
“THE CURIOUS CASE OF SHEEHY’S GUNSHOT WOUND”
Sheehy is back in the spotlight for his refusal to release his medical records from the gunshot wound records say was the result of an accidental weapon discharge in Glacier National Park, per new reporting from Mother Jones.
Mother Jones: The Curious Case of Tim Sheehy’s Gunshot Wound
Sheehy has repeatedly claimed on the campaign trail that he has a bullet in his arm from Afghanistan. But a federal citation reported by the Washington Postshows the gunshot wound in his arm was the result of Sheehy accidentally shooting himself in Glacier National Park in 2015. Now, he’s refusing to release his medical records that would reveal whether his gunshot wound was from Afghanistan or Glacier National Park.
WHAT MONTANANS ARE WATCHING: SHEEHY’S PLAGIARISM SCANDAL RAISES SERIOUS DOUBTS ABOUT MONTANANS’ ABILITY TO TRUST HIS WORD
Following reporting from the Daily Montanan that Shady Sheehy plagiarized at least four sections of his book, Montana news outlets are covering how Sheehy’s plagiarism is the latest in a series of scandals that have eroded Montanans’ trust.
Since launching his campaign, Sheehy has misled Montanans about who he is and what he believes. Whether it’s how his “bullet story doesn't add up," lying about his support for transferring public lands, falsely claiming he parachuted into Glacier National Park for military training, or claiming he grew up “rural” when he actually grew up in the suburbs 15 minutes from the Twin Cities – Sheehy seems incapable of telling Montanans the truth.
SHEEHY PROTESTED IN BILLINGS
Sunday, Sheehy was met with nearly 50 protesters at his campaign event in Billings following reporting that he made disparaging comments about Native Americans, claiming that members of the Crow Tribe threw beer cans at his head and were “drunk at 8 A.M.” Headlining the event was South Dakota’s Governor Kristi Noem, who “has been banned from entering the lands of all nine tribes in South Dakota.”
Amanda Peterman, former Sen. Steve Daines staffer, told local press: “I stand here today because I see these young people... these young boys and girls. And I'm holding a baby... That they don't grow up believing that that is what the American politicians think of Native American people and Native American children. We need better and we deserve better.”
SHEEHY IS THE “NEW GEORGE SANTOS”
Sheehy’s lies are on full display, with Andy Borowitz dubbing him the “new George Santos.” The reporting highlights the inconsistencies surrounding Sheehy’s explanation for his gunshot wound, his “smorgasbord of different reasons for his departure” from the Navy, his business failures, and how “[Sheehy] boasted about parachuting into Glacier” as part of his military training but “a park spokesman said that parachuting is forbidden in Glacier” (and a Navy spokesperson denied his claim).
MONTANANS HAVE KNOCKED 200,000 DOORS TO ELECT JON TESTER & MONTANA DEMOCRATS
Big Sky Victory, the Montana Democratic Party 2024 coordinated campaign, announced that they have knocked on more than 200,000 doors to talk to Montanans about voting for Senator Jon Tester and Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.
BIG SKY VICTORY BY THE NUMBERS:
More than 200,000 doors knocked,
21 field offices open across the state,
Nearly 4,500 Montanans who have volunteered to talk to their neighbors about why they’re supporting Jon Tester
