Out-of-Stater Navigator: Does Tim Sheehy Know Anything About Montana
Multimillionaire transplant Tim Sheehy is running to represent a state he seems to know absolutely nothing about. From wanting to transfer public lands, supporting a health care plan that would shutter 49 rural hospitals, to his top backers being unable to tell Montana and Wyoming apart, Sheehy has made it clear that he doesn’t care about Montanans – he only cares about himself.
SHEEHY CAUGHT PLAGIARIZING SECTIONS OF HIS BOOK
The “untrustworthy behavior” from Sheehy never stops. Sheehy has even been dishonest with Montanans about who wrote his book: new reporting from the Daily Montanan reveals that he plagiarized at least four sections of the book.
With sources ranging from the San Marino Tribune to Wikipedia, Sheehy was found to have made very minor, if any, changes to the source material that appear without citations, with three of them not even appearing in the book’s bibliography.
SHEEHY DOCTORED TV AD TO HIDE HIS ANTI-PUBLIC LANDS TIES
Reporting from HuffPost revealed the latest in Sheehy’s shady efforts to hide his support for transferring public lands.
In a recent TV ad, Sheehy removed the Property and Environment Research Center (PERC) logo on his shirt. PERC has a history of advocating for privatizing and selling off public lands – and Sheehy has obscured his involvement with the group before, when he failed to disclose that he was one of their board members.
SHEEHY’S TOP BACKERS CAN’T TELL WYOMING AND MONTANA APART
New reporting from the National Journal revealed that one of multimillionaire out-of-stater Sheehy’s top backers, American for Prosperity Action, used a “wide shot of the Sunlight Basin in Wyoming” in a recent ad for Sheehy – embarrassingly confusing Wyoming for Montana.
SHEEHY DODGES QUESTIONS IN D.C. ABOUT HIS PLAN TO PURELY PRIVATIZE HEALTH CARE
While in Washington D.C. to raise money from lobbyists and Beltway insiders, Sheehy dodged questions about his calls for the “pure privatization” of health care.
In a new video, Sheehy is asked about his health care policy and his lies about his record, but he’s ushered into a ritzy black car so his driver can whisk him away from questions.
WHAT MONTANANS ARE READING: “SHEEHY’S PLAN HURTS RURAL HOSPITALS”
The former CFO of hospitals in Whitefish, Dillon, and Miles City, Jim Alderson, penned an op-ed calling out Sheehy for his dangerous plan to privatize health care.
The op-ed ran in local papers across the state and highlighted how under Sheehy’s plan for fully privatized health care, rural hospitals would lose tax exemption status, hospital foundations would disappear, non-profitable medical procedures would stop, and hospitals would close.
SENATE GOP BLOCKS TRUMP’S IVF TREATMENT PROPOSAL; SHEEHY STANDS WITH THEM
Senate Republicans blocked legislation that would have ensured all families could access IVF treatment. Sheehy’s record makes it clear that he would stand in lockstep with Mitch McConnell and refuse to protect Montana women’s access to the care they need to grow their families with IVF.
Previously, Sheehy refused to support federal IVF treatment protections. Sheehy is also endorsed by SBA Pro-Life America, an extreme organization that opposed the bill Senate Republicans blocked today.
SHEEHY’S HEALTH CARE PLAN WOULD SHUTTER 49 RURAL HOSPITALS IN MONTANA
If Sheehy gets his way, 49 rural hospitals in Montana would be forced to close their doors.
Sheehy called for the “pure privatization” of the U.S. health care system directly after criticizing federal subsidies for hospitals – a resource that is essential for rural Montana hospitals, which are not profitable due to the small size of their community, to keep their doors open. Sheehy said, “Our hospitals have been built around federal health care subsidies. In my opinion we need to return health care to pure privatization.”
