MTGOP to Start “Grading” Their Members on Obedience to the Party Line; Punishing Moderates

The GOP Has Picked “Party” Over Voters

Helena, MT – At the 2022 Montana GOP Platform Convention, the GOP voted to set up a “grading system,” that will punish their moderate members for voting against the Party Platform during the legislative session next year. The grading system will effectively ensure that the “Party Platform goals become a priority each session,” according to Rep. Derek Skees, who is termed out and recently lost his primary for the PSC.

“This is a radical move by the Montana Republican Party– and it signals to all of us watching that they care about representing the “party” a hell of a lot more than they care about representing the voters in their district,” says Sheila Hogan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. “This is a giant middle finger to Montana voters.”
