MTGOP Calls Hundreds of Thousands of Montanans ‘Peasant Families’

Helena, MT – The Gallatin County Republicans shared a save-the-date this week for their annual fundraising dinner that included some off-the-wall language. Among some of the shocking quotes from the invite – calling the hundreds of thousands of hardworking Montanans who rely on social services “peasant families”.
The invite reads: “Our medical and educational systems are being bankrupted by nonpaying peasant families looking for free stuff.”
Donations from the event are said to go to Republican candidates and featured speakers: Governor Greg Gianforte, Congressman Ryan Zinke, Congressman Matt Rosendale, and Senator Steve Daines.
“It’s appalling and insulting to see Republican leaders use words like ‘peasants’to describe our friends, family, and neighbors across the state of Montana,” said Montana Democratic Party Executive Director Sheila Hogan. “This invitation, which truly reads like someone’s unhinged manifesto, is a harrowing reminder of the dangerous vision of a future GOP-controlled Montana.”
