Lyin’ Ryan Zinke Repeatedly Violated Ethics Rules, Lied to Investigators as Interior Secretary
Now-deleted apology tweet admits to not living up to expectations
Helena, MT – Ryan Zinke repeatedly violated ethics rules, misused his official position, and lied to ethics officials as Trump’s Interior Secretary, a bombshell report revealed this week. Shortly after the story broke, Zinke tweeted a half- baked apology, now deleted, comparing himself to Teddy Roosevelt and admitting he’s working towards being better.
The Interior Department’s Inspector General found that Zinke “failed to abide by his ethics obligations” and “misused his public office for private gain” by negotiating a real estate deal in his hometown of Whitefish, MT as interior secretary.
Zinke was also caught repeatedly lying to ethics officials, who found him to have “knowingly provided materially incorrect, incomplete, and misleading answers” over the course of the investigation.
This was just “one of at least 15 inquiries” into Zinke’s alleged misconduct during the two short years he served in Trump’s cabinet.
“Lyin’ Ryan Zinke is as swampy as they come – using his official office to swindle Montanans and line his own pockets, and then lying to cover his tracks,” says Sheila Hogan, Executive Director of the Montana Democratic Party. “Zinke’s lies will cost him at the ballot box in November.”
