GOP Civil War: Senior Elected Officials Declare Gianforte “will lose the 2020 general election”

Attorney General Tim Fox’s campaign slams Gianforte on pandemic profiteering, triples down on insider trading allegations

Helena, MT – The Montana Republican Party is tearing apart at the seams, leaving serious questions as to whether the party will ever be able to unite after the June 2nd primary. Attorney General Tim Fox’s campaign continues to relentlessly attack New Jersey millionaire Greg Gianforte’s values and record, with no signs of letting up anytime soon.

In a scathing message to his supporters, Fox’s campaign writes, “Montana deserves a governor with character and a governor who will put the people of our state ahead of their own bank account. Greg Gianforte’s actions prove he’s not up to the task… he will lose the 2020 general election for governor.”

After accusing Gianforte of insider trading two weeks ago – and implying that investigations were forthcoming – Fox’s campaign ripped Gianforte for downplaying the threat of coronavirus while positioning himself to profit from it. The campaign writes, while “Gianforte stayed silent as to the looming coronavirus threat, his brokers were busy re-organizing his stock portfolio so he can make a boatload of money. Unless Greg Gianforte or his stockbroker were in Wuhan, China when his stock purchases began, it’s hard to believe they didn’t have information that wasn’t available to the rest of us.”

Reacting to the news that Gianforte has now pumped over $1 million of his own money into his campaign, the Fox team continues, “Not only is Greg Gianforte profiting from a global health crisis, he’s using those profits to self-fund his campaign for governor.”

“I’m just glad I’m not the Executive Director of the MTGOP right now, said MDP Executive Director Sandi Luckey. “Good luck cleaning up this mess on June 3rd.”
