Extremist Daines Spends Time Subverting Democracy Rather Than Helping Montanans Through Economic Fallout

Steve Daines, as he always does, puts his party leaders in DC over Montanans that need jobs.

Senator Steve Daines announced that instead of working across the aisle to help get the nation’s economy back on track, he intends to vote to undermine the results of a free and fair election, citing unsubstantiated allegations that have been repeatedly dismissed by state legislatures, national security experts, nonpartisan election officials at every level of government–including by the Republican Attorney General Bill Barr–and United States Federal District, Circuit, and Supreme Courts. 

After Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked additional direct financial support to Montanans, Daines announced he will participate in a dangerous exercise to undermine our democracy by voting to baselessly reject the results of the November election..

“After failing to govern in a way that would have reduced the spread of COVID and falling short on economic relief for Montanans who lost jobs and small businesses that were forced to close, Daines wants to spend his time subverting an election that was settled two months ago,” said MDP Executive Director Sandi Luckey. “People need their representatives to fight for jobs and opportunity, not dead-end political vendettas.”
