Helena, MT – Yesterday, bipartisan lawmakers on the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party urged Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to investigate firms connected to the sanctioned Chinese military drone company, DJI. Tim Sheehy has his own shady history with DJI.

Reporting revealed that Tim Sheehy “conducted business” with DJI, a Chinese drone company that admitted to sharing data with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), undercutting Sheehy’s “tough on China” claims.

Sheehy “personally petitioned” the FAA for permission to DJI drones. Shortly after getting his exemption accepted, “DJI admitted to complying with the Chinese government’s request to hand over data collected by its drones.”

Despite the concerns about the company’s data sharing, “Sheehy continued to pursue DJI drones and highlighted the use of ‘a world class surveillance drone’ on Bridger Aerospace’s website as recently as 2017.”

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle know that DJI is a security threat – but that didn’t stop Sheehy from prioritizing his own bottom line.
