Montana Reproductive Rights Leaders and Advocates Call Out Sheehy for Backing National Abortion Ban

On the two-year anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, local leaders made clear the stakes of this election
Helena, MT – Today, on the two year anniversary of the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, Montanans called out Tim Sheehy for his support of a national abortion ban and laid out the stakes of this election for Montana women.
Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana CEO Martha Fuller, Representative Laura Smith (HD-79), and former State Senator Diane Sands outlined Sheehy’s determination to strip away the freedoms of Montana women, and the consequences of an abortion ban in Montana.

“We cannot let Tim Sheehy, and other Republicans, be elected to office this November. We have seen the damage they have already done across the country and plan to do right here in Montana. We must stand together and show them that they can not take away our reproductive freedom,” said Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana CEO Martha Fuller.

“I know Montanans across the state who are pregnant right now and dealing with pregnancy complications frequently,” said Representative Laura Smith.“They are having the scariest, most sacred conversations with their partners and their doctors about how to bring their baby safely into the world. And I'm going to tell you, I would venture to say that there is one person that they don't want in that room when they are making that decision – and that is Tim Sheehy.”

“Tim Sheehy supports restricting our freedoms at the federal level. And one of the only things that stands in his way is us – by electing Jon Tester again,” said former State Senator Diane Sands.
Sheehy doubled down on his support for a national abortion ban during the recent Senate debate and he has also called abortion “murder.”
Sheehy is endorsed by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, an extreme anti-abortion group that supports a national abortion ban and opposes protections for access to birth control and IVF treatment, and is pouring money into Montana to campaign for Sheehy.
