Helena, MT – With Election Day just around the corner, Tim Sheehy can’t hide from the truth: He is a multimillionaire transplant, who is always lying, and is only out for himself.
What you need to know about Tim Sheehy:
Sheehy is deeply out-of-touch with Montanans, and his policy plans make this clear. Sheehy called for the “pure privatization” of the health care system, he wants abortion “all to end tomorrow” and opposes CI-128, the ballot measure that would protect Montanans’ reproductive rights, and he wants to transfer off our public lands. And, just yesterday, reporting revealed that Sheehy called to abolish the Department of Education, which would devastate Montana’s public schools.
Sheehy repeatedly lied about and hid key details about his military record, including his refusal to release his medical records from the gunshot wound he claims he received in Afghanistan but records say was the result of an accidental weapon discharge in Glacier National Park.
Sheehy has lied about who he is and where he comes from. He claimed he lived “below the poverty line” when he moved to Montana – when in actuality, Sheehy and his wife had “$400,000 [for] building a business and establishing a new life.” He falsely claimed he lived in a "rural" area near “farmland” when he actually grew up in a multimillion-dollar lake house in a wealthy suburb. And, Sheehy said he “bootstrapped” his company “from scratch” while conveniently omitting the $600,000 he raked in from his family to start his business.
Sheehy has repeatedly insulted Montana voters. Last week, reporting revealed that Sheehy called young women ages 19-30 “indoctrinated” for wanting to protect their reproductive freedoms. Sheehy also made deeply offensive comments about Native Americans, calling them “drunk at 8 A.M.”.
On the campaign trail, Sheehy claimed to be a successful businessman while his company lost millions. Sheehy abruptly resigned as CEO of his company after it lost $77 million, hit all-time stock lows, and faced lawsuits from former employees. And, new reporting revealed Sheehy’s shady tactics to grow his business: He lobbied Montana government officials in an effort to win lucrative, exclusive contracts for his company – including by taking them out to dinner at expensive steakhouses.
Sheehy is doing everything he can to hide from Montanans and the press so he won’t be asked questions. Sheehy “goes to extreme lengths to dodge the media,” and he is being scrutinized by local and national media for ignoring numerous requests for an interview,” and running “a campaign like none I’ve ever seen.” His campaign events are few and far between, and aren’t being publicly posted “at the direction of the Sheehy campaign.” Sheehy has refused to provide Montanans with answers about his record and his lies.
