USPS Under Attack After Gianforte Votes Against $25 Billion in Emergency Funding

Helena, MT – As reports swirl about USPS collection boxes being removed across Montana in advance of a largely vote-by-mail election, Congressman Greg Gianforte has feigned concern, reportedly saying “the House is aware legislation is needed to right the Postal Service. The short-term response will be protecting service levels during the pandemic.”

Yet when Gianforte had the opportunity to approve $25 billion in emergency funding for the postal service, Gianforte voted NO

As noted by Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney, all Montanans, particularly those who live in rural communities, rely on USPS for critical deliveries, including prescription drugs. Greg Gianforte had his chance to support the postal service, and he chose to vote against it.

“Greg Gianforte voted against critical funding for USPS, and now we’re seeing the consequences,” said MDP Deputy Communications Director Matt Fidel. “Actions speak much louder than words. After voting against $25 billion in emergency funding, Gianforte’s faux concern rings hollow.”
