FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Helena, MT – As Montanans head into the Fourth of July weekend ready to take advantage of our pristine public lands, candidate for State Auditor Troy Downing will be enjoying regained privileges after having to forfeit his improperly acquired hunting and fishing licenses in 2018.
In 2017, Downing was charged with nine hunting violations on instances ranging from 2011 to 2016, and pled guilty in July of 2018 to having obtained resident hunting licenses as a non-resident and unlawfully procuring a license or permit. Downing’s residency over the period in question was described as “seasonal at best” by investigators, but that didn’t stop him from attempting to skirt residency requirements and avoid paying his fair share.
“This will be the first Fourth of July Troy Downing will be allowed to fish on his own license since he was handed down a ban for lying about his residency status,” said MDP Communications Director Nathan Stein. “We hope he enjoys it!”
