SHOT: “As the virus spread, so did China’s propaganda and lies, costing American jobs and lives. Senator Steve Daines wants to hold China accountable.”
CHASER: As COVID-19 began spreading across the world, Daines lauded the Chinese government’s response, saying it “aggressively worked to contain” the virus. These fawning comments came despite American intelligence officials warning that China appeared to be downplaying the severity of the crisis.
SHOT: “Senator Steve Daines sent a letter to President Trump urging him to … bring back drug manufacturing jobs to America.”
CHASER: In the 1990s, Daines helped corporate giant Procter & Gamble set up plants in China while the company eliminated thousands of jobs in the U.S. In the Senate, he voted for a tax plan that “could actually make it more attractive” for companies to ship jobs overseas, and in 2015, he voted against a Bring Jobs Home measure which sought to end tax breaks for companies outsourcing jobs.
After his history of doing “the political bidding” of China, Steve Daines’ about face shows his election year desperation. It begs the question, “What does Steve Daines stand for?”
