Ryan Zinke’s Half a Million Dollar Paycheck from ConocoPhillips Raises Questions

His finance report says he was a “consultant.” His campaign says he was a board member. They can’t both be true

Helena, MT – On Wednesday evening, Ryan Zinke’s longtime advisor tweeted that Zinke had stepped away from his “board seat” at ConocoPhillips to focus on his campaign. His financial disclosure report listed his position as “Consultant.” Both can’t be true. Either Ryan Zinke’s campaign is lying now, or was lying on its financial disclosure report.

Zinke has lied to the public and to ethics investigators time and time again, throughout his scandal-ridden career. The 18 investigations into his tenure at the Department of Interior reveal his shocking tendency to break the rules in order to enrich himself.

“If it’s a day that ends in ‘y’, it’s a day that Ryan Zinke is lying to us,” says Sheila Hogan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party. “One thing we know for sure – ConocoPhillips, a multi-national oil corporation, paid Ryan Zinke almost half a million dollars, while they line their own pockets with stock buybacks and hurt Montanans’ wallets at the pump.”
