Helena – Wealthy East Coast developer Matt Rosendale must be in a pickle—and we’re not just talking about reports that he is not really a rancher even though he claims to be. This time, Rosendale is in a bind with the Kochs, who just denounced President Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on some of our country’s closest allies.
Rosendale has praised proposed tariffs in the past, but today, a Koch network spokesperson criticized the Trump administration, saying “Trade wars hurt everyone. They trigger retaliatory tariffs from our trade partners and that raises prices on American families who need affordable access to household goods. We urge the Trump administration to abandon these tariffs.”
The billionaire Koch brothers aren’t the only ones who oppose a trade war—Montana ranchers and farmers have voiced deep concerns about the impact Trump’s trade war could have on Montana’s agricultural industry.
So will Rosendale—who has voted with the Koch brothers 100 percent of the time, been endorsed by the Koch-backed Club for Growth, and seen millions of dollars thrown into Montana’s Senate race by dark money groups to prop up his campaign—choose Trump’s tariffs like he has in the past or choose his dark money backers?
