Rosendale Continues to Lie About His Record on Pre-Existing Conditions

Insurance Commissioner Has Repeatedly Pushed for Removal of Protections for Pre-Existing Conditions

Helena, MT – Matt Rosendale’s campaign website states that as state auditor, he “worked hard to protect Montanans with pre-existing conditions and ensure they have access to affordable health care.” This is a lie.

Rosendale has repeatedly called to repeal the Affordable Care Act — the law guaranteeing protections for patients with pre-existing conditions — putting coverage for 152,000 Montanans with pre-existing conditions in jeopardy. The call to repeal the ACA remains at the top of Rosendale’s healthcare platform.

“Montanans rejected Maryland Matt Rosendale’s dangerous healthcare platform in 2018 — clearly, he didn’t get the memo,” said MDP Executive Director Sandi Luckey. “152,000 Montanans depend on the ACA for coverage of their pre-existing conditions, and nearly 100,000 depend on it for coverage through Medicaid expansion. Any candidate who fails to support access to quality, affordable care for all Montana families has no place in elected office. Maryland Matt may be bought and paid for by the insurance industry, but the voters aren’t — they’ll reject him again in November.”
