Helena – For some reason, wealthy East Coast developer Matt Rosendale thinks he’s running to represent special interest dark money groups over Montanans. That reason seems to be out-of-state money propping up his campaign.
Rosendale and the Koch brothers’ network have been in sync so far this election, backing policies that would raise costs on Montanans while attacking Jon Tester for doing his job.
Rosendale has a perfect Koch brothers voting record, voting with the billionaire Koch brothers 100 percent of the time. This record includes votes against the bipartisan Disclose Act, which requires dark money groups to disclose their campaign expenditures and donors, and against Montana’s Medicaid Plan that strengthens community health centers and helps our veterans and others fighting drug addiction.
Outside groups have poured millions of dollars into Montana so far this cycle, and the Koch-backed group Americans for Prosperity just pledged even more spending in Montana.
Out-of-state billionaires shouldn’t be buying Montana’s elections, yet Matt Rosendale has welcomed them with open arms—probably because he lacks any real in-state support. With special interest dark money groups so desperate to buy Matt Rosendale a seat, what could he be promising them in return?
