Helena, MT – The Republican primary may be over, but Attorney General Tim Fox’s clear resentment towards Greg Gianforte remains. In a message to supporters yesterday, Fox tore into Greg Gianforte, signaling the deep fractures that still exist within the MTGOP, even as candidates pivot towards the general election.
Alluding to Gianforte’s massive spending and East Coast values, Fox said, “We’ve shown Montana that there are still candidates willing to put the people over personal ambition. That leadership means more than just expensive TV ads and flashy mail pieces. That having a vision for the future means showing up, rolling-up your sleeves, and putting in the work.” Fox’s attack on Gianforte’s work ethic is particularly timely, as No Show Gianforte is coming under intense scrutiny for missing more votes than 93% of his colleagues in Congress.
He continued, saying, “Too often candidates fail to appreciate the role they seek to fill. Ego and lust for power overshadows the desire to serve and help others. I wasn’t going to let that happen to me.”
“Even after the GOP primary, Republicans are continuing to speak out against Greg Gianforte’s out-of-touch candidacy,” said MDP Executive Director Sandi Luckey. “Greg Gianforte’s clear unfitness to serve is a matter of bipartisan agreement. We look forward to electing a true public servant as Governor this November, not one who couldn’t even be bothered to show up for his job representing Montanans.”
