Out-of-Stater Navigator: Transplant Tim Sheehy is Just a “Wannabe Cowboy”
Introducing Out-of-Stater Navigator, your one stop shop for all the news on the Republican primary brawl in Montana’s Senate race!
Up this week: Tim Sheehy has a Pinocchio problem – he can’t stop lying. From claiming he’s a “cowboy” on the campaign trail despite not running the day-to-day operations of the ranch he bought, to claiming 100% of his book proceeds go to charity when they also go to a D.C. lobbying group he founded, Montanans know Tim Sheehy can’t be trusted.
SHEEHY’S “COWBOY” FACADE SHATTERS
Bombshell reporting from Vanity Fair revealed that Sheehy has significantly inflated his “cowboy” credentials on the campaign trail in an attempt to sway Montana voters – but is actually a “millionaire aerospace and drone technology entrepreneur who grew up in Minnesota and moved to Montana barely a decade ago.”
Sheehy “does not oversee the ranch’s day-to-day operations,” but that hasn’t stopped him from touting his ranch land for clout. Since buying land with the proceeds from the sale of his drone company for $350 million, Sheehy has been living out his Yellowstone dreams by using the ranch for brand collaborations and glossy magazine photo shoots.
It’s a news story that has toppled Republican politicians in Montana before: Lying about being a rancher to try to win votes, until they get caught (just ask Matt Rosendale). Montanans will see through Sheehy’s charade – they’re known for having a nose for bull.
SHEEHY LIES ABOUT BOOK PROCEEDS
Despite repeatedly claiming on the campaign trail that “100%” of his book proceeds went to “fallen firefighters,” HuffPost uncovered that Sheehy is lying. His book proceeds also go to the United Aerial Firefighters Association (UAFA), a D.C. lobbying group that Sheehy co-founded to benefit his company, Bridger Aerospace.
Sheehy using campaign resources to the financial benefit of his lobbying group – it’s not the best look!
SHEEHY BACKED BY GROUP WITH NATIONAL ABORTION BAN “LITMUS TEST”
Sheehy’s anti-choice stance is under scrutiny after he touted the endorsement of a group that only supports candidates who back a national abortion ban. Sheehy announced he was endorsed by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America (SBA), which stated in April that they will refuse to back any candidate who does not support a national abortion ban.
Sheehy has already called abortion murder. Now, with this endorsement, he’s making it clear he supports a national abortion ban and telling every Montana woman that he does not trust her to make her own decisions about her health.
