New GOP ‘Skinny Relief’ Bill Pads the Pockets of Daines’ Big Pharma Backers
Helena, MT – Upon returning to Washington D.C. after a month-long recess, Senator Steve Daines and his Republican colleagues are set to vote for a “skinny” relief bill which prioritizes the interests of massive corporations over hard-working Montanans. This bill lacks funding for state and local governments, hospitals, first responders, the National Guard, and gives insufficient resources for the U.S. Postal Service.

Instead of prioritizing the American worker, this Daines-backed relief bill provides billions of dollars to Big Pharma. No surprise given recent reports that Daines pocketed thousands in campaign cash from Big Pharma after championing a program in the CARES Act allowing these companies to secure massive federal grants. Once again, Daines will cast his vote to pad Big Pharma’s bottom line.

This continues Daines’ shameful pattern of putting his big-money backers first, while leaving Montanans to fend for themselves.

“Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Steve Daines has prioritized the interests of his Big Pharma friends who bankroll his political career,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “Montanans deserve a senator who will fight for their concerns, not one who does the bidding of his corporate backers.”
