Independent reporting shows the company’s expansion in China was subsidized by restructuring
Reporting at the time shows that the company’s “Strengthening Global Effectiveness” plan was used to cut 4,000 American jobs – even though the company was making record profits – and subsidizing its expansion abroad, including in China.
Despite what Daines has said, in 1996, the Baltimore Sun reported that the company’s global restructuring plan would “ensure that the company’s fat U.S. profits would continue to help subsidize P&G’s rapid expansion in China.”
The evidence is clear: The company Daines worked for slashed thousands of American jobs while he helped set up their factories in China And independent reporting shows that the restructuring helped subsidize the company’s “rapid expansion” in China.
Steve Daines has always been out for himself, not Montanans.
