“State Frauditor” Website Calls Out Rosendale’s Residency Ruse
In the wake of reports
that wealthy East Coast developer Matt Rosendale personally signed two documents—under penalty of perjury—that he was a Maryland resident to receive a tax break in 2015, Montana Dems launched a website today targeting the candidate who has trouble with the truth. “State Frauditor”
highlights the ways that Rosendale has deceived Montanans about his residency.
The website explains that Rosendale signed two standalone legal documents under penalty of perjury that he was a Maryland resident in order to secure a tax break on a 2015 property sale. The tax break form he signed is available only to Maryland residents.
“Either Matt Rosendale was a Maryland resident in 2015 when he was serving in the legislature then ran for state auditor, or he lied under penalty of perjury to secure a tax break,” said Brooke Bainum, spokesperson for the Montana Democratic Party. “Neither option is a good look for State Frauditor Matt Rosendale, and he should come clean with Montanans.”
