Montana Democrats Statement on Rodney Garcia Violent Comments
Helena, MT – This Friday at an event hosted by Ryan Zinke and attended by several Republican candidates for statewide office — including bodyslammer Greg Gianforte — Billings state representative Rodney Garcia publicly called for Montanans to be shot, and insinuated that the threat extended to his opponent in the 2018 election.
Garcia has previously touted his prior conviction for a domestic dispute, and has gone on the air to attack child protective services workers. No GOP candidates for governor have yet commented on Garcia’s most recent remarks.
“Rodney Garcia has brazenly flaunted his conviction for a domestic dispute, called single moms deadbeats, and was only elected because he created an illegal campaign cash scam. Now he’s publicly calling for people to be shot,” said MDP Chair Robyn Driscoll. “All candidates in attendance — especially those with previous assault charges — must immediately condemn his remarks.”
