“Obviously Rosendale would have to be disappointed”

Helena – Yesterday, the Montana Chamber of Commerce declined to endorse wealthy East Coast developer Matt Rosendale, a break from the Chamber’s usual endorsement of a Republican candidate for Senate. The Chamber has endorsed the Republican in each Montana Senate race since 2012, so passing on endorsing Rosendale—for the second time as he’s run for higher office—is a slap in the face, with Carroll College political science professor Jeremy Johnson saying, “Generally chambers of commerce endorse Republican candidates so obviously Rosendale would have to be disappointed.”

The Montana Chamber of Commerce “declined to endorse Rosendale in his Senate bid, signaling both that Jon Tester has been a strong proponent for Montana business and that Rosendale is so far out of even today’s Republican mainstream that the body couldn’t stomach endorsing him.”
