Maryland Matt Rosendale Out-of-Touch on the Issues that Matter to Montanans

In Response to Rosendale’s Nomination, Cook Political Report Moves the Race in Favor of Williams

Helena, MT – After Montana Republicans nominated a historically weak candidate for U.S. House in Maryland Matt Rosendale, national analysts are moving the race in favor of Democratic nominee Kathleen Williams, who has repeatedly outraised him.

The move reflects that time and again, Maryland Matt has proven that he’s out of touch on the issues that matter to Montanans. Rosendale has fought to roll back protections for Montanans with pre-existing conditionsrubber-stamped rate hikes for insurance companies, and carried out political favors for his campaign donors while serving in his official capacity. As a state legislator, he voted against both the Southwest Montana Veterans Center, and Medicaid expansion — a program that covers more than 90,000 Montanans. And he’s advocated loudly for the transfer of federal lands, a move that could put public lands in private hands.

“At every opportunity, Maryland Matt has shown that he’s out of touch with working Montanans,” said MDP Executive Director Sandi Luckey. “People are looking for a Representative who will fight for health care, defend access to public lands, and stand with our veterans. Montanans rejected Maryland Matt last time around, and they’ll do it again this November.”
