Maryland Matt Rosendale Continues to Oppose Medicaid Expansion
Helena, MT – Access to quality, affordable health care has never been more important, but Maryland Matt Rosendale continues to oppose Montana’s Medicaid expansion program, which currently covers more than 80,000 Montanans across the state, has created thousands of jobs, and has proven to be a lifeline for rural hospitals and the communities they support.

As a state legislator, Rosendale infamously voted against expanding Medicaid. After the law was passed, Rosendale continued to undermine the program by calling for federal block grants, which would result in massive losses in coverage. Rosendale also supported efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which protects those with pre-existing conditions like asthma. His opponent, Kathleen Williams, voted for Medicaid expansion, and has remained a champion for quality, affordable health care throughout her career. Kathleen has developed a detailed plan to get all citizens affordable, quality care, and will protect Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security, which so many Montanans depend on.

“Maryland Matt is so out-of-touch, he continues to oppose Medicaid expansion in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic,” said MDP Communications Director Nathan Stein. “Montanans need elected officials who will fight for them and their communities, not work to undermine health care during a public health crisis. Maryland Matt has proven that he’s not up to the job.”
