Knudsen Champions Attack on Montana Public Schools
Knudsen Doubles Down on His Efforts to Send Taxpayer Dollars to Private Schools
Helena, MT – This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the case of Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue opened the door for taxpayer dollars to fund private religious schools, at the expense of Montana public education. Republican candidate for Attorney General Austin Knudsen released a statement celebrating the ruling against Montana public education and the dismantling of our Montana constitution.
Knudsen’s touting of his anti-public school credentials comes as no surprise. Knudsen has never seen a school privatization bill he didn’t like, voting for one every session he was in office — including the one at the heart of today’s decision. He even personally carried a charter school bill for outside activist groups as Speaker of the House, and has been a central fixture at privatization rallies in Montana.
“Austin Knudsen’s enthusiastic support for this devastating decision against our constitutional right to public education disqualifies him for Attorney General,” said MDP Communications Director Nathan Stein. “Montanans want an Attorney General who will stand up for our public schools, and our Montana constitution — Knudsen has proven that he doesn’t care about either.”
