Heading into September, Do Nothing Daines Still Enjoying Vacation
Helena, MT – As we head into September, Senator Steve Daines is still enjoying his month-long vacation. Despite failing to pass COVID relief, Daines packed his bags and left Washington weeks ago for an extended recess.
As Daines enjoys his undeserved break, Montana’s critical needs from the federal government are going unmet – including funding for state and local governments, our schools, the Postal Service which is critical for rural communities and Indian Country, and expired emergency unemployment benefits.
Yet, Daines is kicking up his feet and focusing on his reelection campaign – leaving Montanans to fend for themselves.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the country is barrelling towards a government shutdown because Daines and his colleagues on the Appropriations Committee have refused to pass spending bills in a shameless attempt to skirt “any controversial votes” until they are “safely past Election Day.”
“Senator Daines has let an entire month go by without taking action to help Montanans in this national emergency,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “While Do Nothing Daines is nowhere to be found, it is clear that Montanans deserve a leader like Governor Bullock who has fought tirelessly for them throughout the COVID-19 crisis.”
