Greg Gianforte Has Spent More Money Trying to Buy the Governor’s Mansion Than the Average Montana Family Earns in 66 Years
Gianforte has now dumped more than $3.5 million into his own campaign

Helena, MT – According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Montana’s yearly median household income was $52,559. Greg Gianforte has now spent more than 66x that – or $3.5 million – running for governor of Montana.

Last month, Gianforte spent another $1 million of his personal money – the equivalent of $33,333 per day. Since 2016, Greg Gianforte has now spent more than $13 million running for elected office in Montana.

While Gianforte relies on his own checkbook, Mike Cooney’s campaign is shattering grassroots fundraising records. During the last filing period, Cooney’s campaign raised more than $675,000 – more than double Gianforte’s fundraising haul from donors. Over the last three months, Cooney has raised an eye popping $1.4 million from donors.

“After suing Montanans to block stream access and enthusiastically praising a statewide sales tax, it’s no wonder that Greg Gianforte feels the need to spend more than $3.5 million in a vain attempt to buy the Governor’s mansion,” said Deputy Communications Director Matt Fidel. “Unlike Gianforte’s virtually non-existent campaign, Cooney’s grassroots support is unmatched, which is why Montanans will elect him governor this November.”
