Great Falls Tribune: Gubernatorial candidate Mike Cooney unveils plans for veterans

Split Screen: As Cooney outlines vision to support veterans, service members, and military families, Gianforte triples down on refusal to condemn Trump’s disparaging remarks on Americans killed in war

Helena, MT – Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney this week announced his plan for supporting Montana’s veterans, service members, and military families. Cooney promised to prioritize veterans’ mental health, and pledged to make sure America’s heroes get the care and benefits they deserve.

Cooney also slammed his opponent, New Jersey millionaire Greg Gianforte, for tripling down on his refusal to stand up for Montana’s veterans in the face of President Trump’s reported comments calling Americans killed in war “losers” and “suckers.”

“I spoke out loudly against those comments and I have called on my opponent to do the same,” the Great Falls Tribune reported Cooney as saying. “We must stand up for our service members, and his failure to show up and condemn those remarks speaks volumes.”

“Greg Gianforte’s refusal to condemn these vile comments is just another example of why No Show Greg is no good for Montana,” said MDP Deputy Communications Director Matt Fidel. “Our nation’s heroes deserve respect, but with Greg Gianforte all they can expect is neglect.”
