Helena, MT – Gianforte’s “slimy campaign tactics” spell trouble for the Republican Party. Greg Gianforte is so uniquely unpopular, even among Republicans, that serious doubts remain about his ability to unite the party after the June 2nd primary.
In their most recent debate, Republican Attorney General Tim Fox slammed Gianforte for using Fox’s previous cancer diagnosis to poach supporters from his campaign, a move which Montana Public Radio called, “slimy campaign tactics.” Fox also criticized Gianforte for “not engaging enough with Montanans,” saying that Gianforte had been “social distancing long before the pandemic.”
Gianforte’s opponents have called his behavior “appalling,” leading an MTPR commentator to declare that “I don’t think these two are going to be sharing a drink anytime soon.”
“Greg Gianforte has used his opponent’s cancer diagnosis to garner support for his own campaign, while funneling over $1 million of his own cash into his bid to buy the Republican nomination,” said MDP Executive Director Sandi Luckey. “As Greg Gianforte continues to fracture the Republican Party, Montanans of all political stripes will reject his brand of dirty politics.”
