Throughout Daines’ time in Washington D.C., Daines has played politics in Washington, DC with critical resources for Montana’s firefighters – voting against common sense measures to provide funding to help fight forest fires.
Now that he’s trying to shore up his sinking re-election bid, Daines is trying to rewrite his record – and he’s jeopardizing our firefighters health while he’s at it.
“Today, Senator Daines shamelessly used government property to boost his re-election campaign,” said Rep. Willis Curdy, Former Wildland Firefighter. “While Daines loves to pay lip service to firefighters, his voting record in Washington D.C. shows that he doesn’t really care about us. We deserve a senator we can count on, not one who just shows up during election season for a photo-op.”
“When it comes to public health, Senator Daines has made clear he’s willing to throw caution to the wind,” said Barry Hicks, Former Wildland Firefighter. “By visiting the Smokejumper Center after flagrantly disregarding COVID best practices, Daines is putting our firefighters at risk. It’s clear that Daines is just out for himself and his re-election campaign – not us.”
