Federal Court Upholds Expansion of Daines-Backed Junk Insurance Plans in Blow to Montanans’ Health Care
Helena, MT – On Friday, a federal court upheld the expansion of Daines-backed short-term junk plans, allowing insurance companies to continue pushing bare-bones options that exclude protections for pre-existing conditions. These junk plans, which Daines voted to expand, “force many to pay for lifesaving treatments”, often leaving them with astronomical medical bills.

Between voting for these shoddy plans and his continued support for the partisan lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act, which could rip away health coverage from 112,000 Montanans if successful, it’s clear what Daines’ priorities are – chip away at Montanans’ health care by any means necessary, even during a global pandemic.

“Steve Daines is unrelenting in his crusade to gut the Affordable Care Act and undermine Montanans’ health care coverage,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “The hard-working families of Big Sky Country deserve a senator with a proven record of fighting for affordable and accessible health care, not one who fights to sabotage it.”
