Do Nothing Daines Has Taken 43 Days Off During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Helena, MT – Since the coronavirus pandemic began, Senator Steve Daines has taken a staggering 43 days off – while Montana families still await additional relief amid the ongoing public health and economic crises.
But Daines continues his month-long summer vacation despite failing to pass additional coronavirus relief, leaving critical priorities for Montanans unfunded – including desperately-needed resources for the Postal Service, state and local governments, our schools, and enhanced unemployment benefits.

Meanwhile Daines has remained in lockstep with Republican Party leaders as the Administration has put forward dangerous proposals, including undermining the Postal Service — an essential resource to Montana’s veterans, tribes and rural communities — and a plan that could “permanently deplet[e]” Social Security funding by 2023 with “no ability to pay benefits thereafter.”

“With every passing day on vacation, Steve Daines is showing his true colors – he simply cannot be counted on to fight for Montanans during this crisis,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “Montanans need an advocate working for them in the Senate, but Do Nothing Daines is missing in action.”
