Daines Remains Silent as New Reports Reveal Former Aide Used Political Connections to Facilitate Sham Pandemic Profiteering Company

Helena, MT – New reports reveal that Mike Gula, a former campaign aide to Senator Steve Daines, landed large deals to sell personal protective equipment to numerous states “after parlaying his connections to lobbyists and fundraisers” connected to the GOP. But Daines has refused to answer questions about the nature of his affiliation with Gula, or if Daines leveraged his long standing relationships with Chinese officials to help Blue Flame partner with a subsidiary of a Chinese government-owned company

Daines has an extensive history of working with Gula, paying him nearly $500,000 since 2018. The Wall Street Journal reports that Daines tasked Gula with setting up several fundraising events for him this year. Now, as Gula’s company faces a Justice Department investigation after failing to fulfil orders, Daines still refuses to comment on the nature of his relationship with Gula’s sham business.

“Steve Daines remains eerily silent as his former aide is investigated for shamelessly lining his pockets during a pandemic,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “Daines has skirted questions about his level of involvement with this racket and refuses to deny he was one of the ‘relationships’ Gula leveraged. Daines owes Montanans answers about his level of involvement in Gula’s pandemic profiteering scheme.”
