Daines Previously Said the Senate Should Stay in Washington and “Do the Work of the People” – He’s Apparently Changed His Mind

Helena, MT – Another summer day has gone by and where is Senator Steve Daines? Despite failing to pass additional coronavirus relief, he is still home enjoying his month-long vacation. A mere two years ago, Daines voiced concerns over taking such a long recess, saying “I’d never heard of such a thing as taking a month off in the summertime” – adding that it was important to “stay here, and do the work of the people.” Well, apparently Daines has experienced a radical change of heart now that his political future is in jeopardy.

As a result of Do Nothing Daines’ inaction, critical needs for Montanans are going unmet – including support for the Postal Service, state and local governments, schools, and emergency unemployment benefits.

But Daines is still taking an extended vacation instead of fighting for the needs of hard-working Montanans in the midst of a crisis.

It’s truly unthinkable that Steve Daines can continue a month-long vacation during a national emergency when Montanans desperately need him to fight for them in the Senate,” said MDP Communications Advisor Christina Wilkes. “It’s evident that Do Nothing Daines is only willing to show up for work when it’s convenient for him, not when his constituents are counting on him.”
